Hunger in Henderson County, Illinois

 

According to Feeding America, with a 2014 Illinois population numbering 12,875,255, approximately 1,755,180 Illinoisans (13.6%) are food insecure, meaning they are in fear of where their next meal will come from.  

 

Also according to Feeding America, food-insecurity rates among households with children are substantially higher than those found in the general population, with 661,950 children (61%) under 18 years of age being food insecure.    

 

According to Feeding America, Henderson County has a 10.8% food-insecurity rate, meaning 770 people in Henderson County are living in fear of where their next meal will come from.  (According to the initial results of our 2014 FOCC Client Survey, 92 people have reported increased food security as a result of our program)
